A common symbol for the sun is the sun cross. This symbol was used already in the Bronze Age from around 3000 BC. As with the sun in our universe, the sun cross is positioned in the center of the dial but will only shape the cross when the hands are in a 90 degree angle.
Ashwin designed the watch in such a way that honors the metallurgy, which has been used a lot in the Bronze Age, by playing with polished and matted surfaces on the case depending from which position you look at it. The sun has a solar cross symbol and along with its solar powered movement pays homage to our source of light and warmth.
